Leading online poker operator PokerStars is one of the best places a British person can find employment. This is the conclusion made by workplace assessment consultancy group The Great Place to Work Institute’s latest study.
PokerStars top 50
PokerStars made the list of the UK’s 50 best workplaces on the back of robust employee benefits and rewards, strong professional development opportunities and a diverse workforce. PokerStars, London’s Vision Clin, Star, Virgo Health and Jobwise were among the companies selected from amongst thousands of different firms employing millions of people.
This online gambling provider’s feat is made all the more impressive when one takes into account Great Place to Work’s assessment that this was a strong year for workplaces. According to CEO Tom O’Byrne, the companies that stood out were those in which the employees themselves agreed it was a great place to work.
Work in online gambling
The online gambling industry is one of the fastest growing employers of people in the UK. About half of PokerStars’ 1,200 global employees are based in its London and Isle of Man offices. Bet365, one of the leading companies based in the UK, employs over 1,700 people and is the largest private employer in the city of Stoke-On-Trent.
Employment has risen to unprecedented levels in Europe in the past few years, so it is good to see that while most industries are suffering, at least one (online poker and gaming) is able to make a meaningful contribution to citizens and the economy by providing gainful employment and job satisfaction.
