A new study shows that mobile sports betting apps have reached an all-time high in the UK with William Hill and bet365 sportsbooks taking top honors.

The UK has always been fond of online sports betting and the newest form of making sports bets is through iPhone's and iPad’s. Up to 4.3% of all iPhone owners in the UK are using the mobile device to make mobile sports bets and the favorite operators are William Hill Sports and bet365 Sportsbook. Onavo, the mobile data start-up recently shared this new data with The Guardian and it shows that mobile sports betting apps are becoming the method of choice for iPhone users.

The favorite choice according to Onavo is William Hill Sports accounting for 38% of all mobile sports bets with bet365 at 24%.  Although many of the people using one of the apps also use the other, “There’s a lot of overlap; people are using a bunch of these apps rather than sticking to just one,” relates Guy Rosen the Chief Executive at Onavo.  “If you look at William Hill, 10% are also using bet365”.

Mobile Sports Betting Apps allow players to access all the best sports bets while on the go and according to Onavo, bet365 is the most engaged app in the UK with users logging into their accounts and using their services 5.6 days a month.  William Hill is not far behind with punters using it 4.1 days per month.

At the end of 2012 there were approximately 8.65 million iPhone users in the UK and if the 4.3% are using these mobile sports betting apps, it translates to over 372,000 people.
