The gambling industry is awash in tributes to the recently departed Queen Elizabeth II.
All iGaming Remembers
Groups and operators from the iGaming industry are paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on September 8th at age 96 to conclude a reign that began 6 February 1952.
The Thoroughbred Connection
Upon news of her passing at Balmoral Castle in Scotland and the ascension of her eldest son King Charles III, many UK iGaming organisations began publishing tributes to the queen, who had a unique personal interest through her passion for breeding horseracing thoroughbreds.
BHA Tribute
The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) initiated the tributes by remembering the queen’s roles as a patron of The Jockey Club and Thoroughbred Breeders Association and as the figurehead of the Royal Ascot racecourse.
BHA Leader Speaks
BHA Chair Joe Saumarez Smith extended his condolences to all affected by the sad news:
“Racing owes an incalculable debt of gratitude, not only for Her Majesty’s dedication and commitment to the sport but for her public advocacy of it, something that doubtless has driven the sport’s popularity and attracted a great number of fans.
Popular to Horseracing Circle
Smith lauded the many who work in horse-racing “who have enjoyed relationships with her majesty through the training and breeding of her horses and will be grieving.”
Day of Remembrance
The BHA further suspended all racing activity across Great Britain on September 9th in solemnity for the day.
ARC Tribute
Arena Racing Company ARC commemorated the queen’s connection to horses and racing as well, through the words of ARC chairman David Thorpe:
“Throughout her life, Her Majesty the Queen was a figurehead not just for British horse racing, but for the nation.”
Gratitude and Peace
Thorpe expressed his organisation’s deep sadness as he expressed “the deep gratitude of myself and all at Arena Racing Company for her unwavering support for, and appreciation of, British racing over many decades. May she rest in peace.”
William Hill Appreciation
London bookmaking giant William Hill lamented losing the country’s longest reigning monarch and called her “an important and steadfast figurehead during times of massive change.”
Clarion Condolences
UK-based iGaming event and content provider Clarion Gaming sent the organisation’s thoughts and condolences to the royal family and the rest of the country at this sad time.
Outlook
Onlinecasinoreports.com can only add to the condolences by respectfully remembering the monarch's benevolent guidance in shepherding a jurisdiction that grew into the industry’s largest and most socially progressive market and enabled the reporting of so much groundbreaking news for so many years.
