Erick Rowan, whose real name is Joseph Ruud, is a professional wrestler infamous for his time in the WWE. The last couple of years have been very difficult for him, with his latest appearance on WWE Raw highlighting the pain that he has endured. Jumping Into the Ring

Joseph Ruud began his career in wrestling on the independent circuit before signing up with WWE in 2011. It was in this independent circuit that he tried out varies monikers and personas before settling on Erick Rowan.

He quickly rose to prominence as a member of the Wyatt Family, a cult-like stable led by Bray Wyatt. Their fame reached a boiling point when they debuted on the WWE’s main roster in 2013. Ruud then became infamous for his strength and imposing size, standing at 6 foot 8 inches or 2,03 meters, often being portrayed as the enforcer of the group. But he did not limit his character to that of an enforcer as he often involved mysterious and eerie elements. What is more, he continued to develop his persona, which included carrying a mysterious cage with an unknown creature inside.

Rowan held several championships throughout his career, including the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship, which we won twice. One of the wins was achieved by Luke Harper, while the other was achieved by Daniel Bryan. Moreover, Ruud turned his WWE fame into onscreen success with various appearances in movies, often portraying the strong yet silent type.

Post WWE Career

Rowan's time with the WWE ended in 2020 when he was freed of his contractual obligations. He then changed his stage name to Erick Redbeard and made appearances in other wrestling promotions, such as the AEW.

He has recently also appeared in an episode of WWE RAW, where he talked about the losses that he has suffered over the last few years. His grief at losing his WWE brothers Brodie Lee (stage name Luke Harper) and Windham Rotunda (stage name Bray Wyatt) showed his vulnerability.
